With rising gas cost at the pump, violence in the Middle East and the upcoming Presidential Election, it’s no wonder that politicians are saying they have plans to make the United States independent of foreign oil. But can it be done? Here’s a country that has kicked the foreign oil habit: Denmark.

yeah I saw a program about there wind energy system it's the larges in the world those wind propellers span over a 100 feet. There are many area in the United States where this Wind Energy could be but in to practical use

The US already has these sort of windmills. There just aren't many even though we have plenty of room that could be better used for these than anything else.

Not that many that would do any good. Maybe we should look elsewhere for better ideas. Like Denmark, they have much better cycling culture, it is part of their life. It was amazing seeing families ride their bikes together through all different types of traffic holding hands, babies on bikes. Not a lot of people wearing helmets. They did not seem so griped with fear as we are here.

clint actually your wrong the windmills in Denmark are the largest and most advance windmills in use today so do your research before you start up with your arrogant remarks

Energy Independence Now!

No more Oil Wars!

Stop funding the terrorists!

Drill in Anwar.

Build more nuclear power plants

Use More coal.

Use more natural gas

Turn trash into energy

Double the efficiency of windmills and solar cells.

If France can do nuclear power so can we.

If Brazil can do biomass/ethanol power so can we.

If Australia can do LNG power so can we.

Domestically produced energy will end recession and spur the economy.

Well said! Lets act as if we are a part of the world instead of trying to run it and learn from our neighbors.

1.5MW vs 2MW is close enough for me to call them similar. I didn't say the US is right up there with Denmark. And I missed the arrogant remark.

Bello Velo said...

Not similar they are independent of foreign oil. Not even close to being similar. Read the whole article.

Or I am not clear as to what you are talking about.

clintpatty said...

I was only talking about the similarities of the windmills, not the similarities of Denmark and the US on their use of wind power.

Got ya, different topic than the post. You should check out the article. It's about independence from foreign oil.

I read the article before posting any comments. And it's a cool article. To me the most important part was a community effort to reduce consumption. At least we have a green power choice here through Huntsville Utilities, but I don't through the dorm. I'd like to see less dependence on domestic coal along with foreign oil.

I will check out the HSV utility thanks. Yes the dutch are very progressive people. Nice country too. Funny most things are legal there and not really a country gripped by fear as here. All the different types of transportation there are amazing.

Nice too see what people and their government can do by putting there energy into other things besides war, superstitions and greed.

I hope we learn that here soon.
