Colorful lights will 'enhance' downtown Huntsville power substation

Not one word from me on this one, I got this from the "Bus Stops Here" section of HSV Times Online.

HUNTSVILLE, AL -- Big Spring Partners, the downtown development group, has contracted Theatrical Lighting Systems for $2,500 to color the power substation in red, blue and green lights in the hopes of beautifying Huntsville.

Staring Thursday night, that big, ugly power substation located near the corner of the Heart of Huntsville Drive and Monroe Street will be made beautiful thanks to colored lights.

“We’re always looking for enhancements for downtown,” said Big Spring Partners president Mary Jane Caylor.

The goal, according to an announcement from Caylor, is to “attract individuals to the downtown area to see another beautification area of interest. read more here

I learned from my wife that this is most likely not out of the city budget. Big Spring Partners has their own money to play with.

It still seems like a waste of money though.

Peter, I gathered that from the article. I think what makes this so humorous is the Idea.

Plus it is tied into the "downtown development group" .

Holy SHIT!!! This is awesome!!! Maybe we can all chip in for the flashing bulbs that spell out, "LIVE NUDE GIRLS" and then when people go down to the substation there won't be anyone there.

That's fucking awesome.
